Poem written by Benjamin Wiechel

"Unknown"

Beautiful to the very core of her being
Sensual beyond belief
A heart so caring
Worth dying for
Eyes full of love
Words of beauty
Trickle from her lips
For her do I pine
And wish, and hope
In vain
I know she cannot be mine
Nor can I be hers
In my heart I know it was not meant to be
No matter how my heart races
My emotions call out
I realize that she is too great
And I too little
Yet even so
Would I tell her of my love
Of the strength of my feelings for her
Would I tell her that she holds a piece of my heart
To carry with her always
Yet must these truths
Be kept secret
For I have no way to tell her
No way without disgrace
For me and for her
She is perfection to me
I could only despoil her
To this I must reconcile
My life, my heart
To always wonder
Yet never know
How sweet it could be
To love and be loved
By one so wonderful

To you my darling
Do these words
This heart, this mind and body
Belong

These words would I say
Silence....
Never shall they be uttered
By my lips
These words from me
She shall never fear
And so shall I go to my grave
Wishing
And unknown
