"The Secrets Within"

A Question
Simply asked
The answer
A vague jumble of words
Deception at its best
Answering without answering
A question unasked
Do you notice?
Does anyone else?
A lilting dance
Secretly prancing softly
Around a delicate subject
I see your game
And know how you play it
I see through the veil
You cast over my eyes
Eyes piercing the darkness
And discerning your truth

A mask you wear
Hiding that within
What of me do you fear?
My honesty?
Or is it my ability
To see past your facade
The thin veneer that covers
The secrets within?

Your mask
My mask
They only serve to hide
That which should ne'er be hidden
To protect us from hurt
From our fears
Caring is the solution
And honesty
I see the mask you wear
I see through the mask
I see deep into your heart
And the secret places with
I will bide my time
And silently await
The point of trust
And then
Then shall we be friends
Bound through time
Ne'er shall I betray you
Nor you me
Once we reach that point
A union of souls
A binding of hearts
The love of friendship
Held at bay
By the secrets within
