Poem written by Benjamin Wiechel

"Nature"

Drip.... drip.... drip....
The sound of water
After a long, slow rain
A softness
The touch of a mother
Caring for her children
A soft breeze passes by
Slightly chilling
Barely touching
My hair tousled softly
The touch of a mother
Caring for her child

A cricket chirrps
A rabbit hops slowly by
A bird whistles in the background
A ray of sunlight pierces the clouds
A sign of hope for the new day
I gaze outward
Looking at all before me
And wondering
Contemplating how and why
The purpose of life

I take off my shoes
And stroll in the sweet tears
Of our mother
Nature
And experience everything
As if it were my first
I breathe deeply of the wet air
Glorying in the single ray
Of precious, wonderful sunlight
The angry clouds cowering before it
And I realize
I realize that Nature
As all things
Are here to enjoy
And appreciate
Like a mother's caring love

Gandalf....
