"A Cry for Help"

I call, none listen
I cry, none notice
I work, it is not worthy
I try, and fail.

Would that the world
Were capable of hearing
My voice
Quiet
Silent in the clamor
Of billions of people
Trying to be heard
Searching for love
For caring
Finding only hurt
Pain
Ignored by many
Heard by few.

A tragedy --
Our world
So uncaring
Unfeeling,
Lacking the heart
To listen,
Listen to the words I'm not saying
To hear my unspoken thoughts
To understand
To comprehend
My wants
My needs
My desires.

All I ask
Is that you listen.
Listen to what I mean.
Listen to what is inside me.
It is not hard.
It is all there
Laid out for you
Ready to be heard
All you have to do is
Listen.
